Safaris to National Parks at Kamatha

Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka.
 
The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts.
 
The park is 15 minutes from Habarana Eco Lodge.

Our camping site lies next to a water way teaming with fish and bird life. In our fully equipped camp site you can cook your own meals (all items provided) or let our team do the hard work while you enjoy a glass of wine and star gaze.  Arrival can be via boat or jeep.

While enjoying our camping facilities you can also;

•Explore the cultural triangle (spend the day exploring the Sigiriya Lions rock, Minneriya national park- home to over 250 elephants, Ritigala Forest Monastery,  Trincomalee beach)

•Take part in a mud safari

•Take advantage of the opportunity to bird watch / photograph some of Sri Lanka’s most endemic birds

•Join ammay in our kitchen – Learn about the many Sri Lankan spices and herbs which make our dishes truly unique. Learn to cook your own rice and curry  and take away our complimentary spice goody bag so those at home can share a little bit of the haven you enjoyed

•Visit a typical Sri Lankan village home and enjoy a cup of tea with juggery* 

•Spend the night in a ‘watch hut’ keeping an eye out for elephants with just a lantern and the moonlight to keep you company

•Read a book on a hammock or play cricket /football with the village lads






Go on a boat ride, pick some wild flowers  and visit the local temple. Let the chanting of the evening prays engulf you in the serenity of village life
